A little over a month ago, I lost my "heart" dog Caterina. Cat was more than a pet or a partner - she was as essential to me as air, or water - losing her was one of the hardest thing I have been through in my 45 years...
About a week after her loss, Cindy emailed me and said that it might be too soon for me, but she knows of a dog that needs a home. It's a dog that she thinks will fit in well with my pack. Her name is Fennec, and she is a littermate of Cindy's Malinois Favor. She had been purchased to trial in French Ring, but she is not interested in bite work, so the owner is looking to rehome her.
Fennec is going to be 3 years old on March 19th. She has a wonderful foundation in basic training. She has incredible food drive. I've been in contact with her owner and I've seen videos of her - she has lots of potential, I think.
Long story short, Fennec will be joining my pack on Monday. I will be going to the airport to pick her up Monday afternoon. I talked Jeff into going with me, so you may be seeing Fennec in some Leerburg videos
Everything happened rather quickly. I told a friend that I feel like I have not given Caterina proper mourning time. She said that maybe that was Cat's way of telling me that it's OK to let go. That rather than focusing on the end of our journey together, I should focus on the beginning of a new journey with Fennec.
So, I am embarking on a new journey with a new dog. I am nervous, but excited. I will keep everyone updated on how Fennec is doing.

I'm very happy for you and your new girl, if Fennec could go to a better home, I would like to know where that is
I hope she goes a little way to help you smile again after your devastating loss of Caterina, big congrats x

Oh, that went quickly! This will be a wonderful adventure for you and Fennec. I wish you both a great relationship full of pleasure andof course with the rest of your pack too. I'm so much looking forward to seeing the first pictures/vídeos. All good luck to you!

Kelly, isn't it interesting that you had just posted in another thread that's going on right now about how you have never actually gone looking for a dog, but sometimes the universe just seemed to have a plan? Fennec needed a new home, and there you were. Maybe Caterina did have something to do with that. The universe is full of mysteries we haven't begun to understand.
I'm looking forward to updates!

We picked up Fennec at the airport last night and she came out of the crate like a seasoned traveler. I was very impressed. She was immediately responsive to me, and I had no issues at all with handling her.
When I got home, and shuffled dogs around to give her some alone time loose in the house, the first thing she did was jump up on the chair with me and give me a giant kiss on the cheek. She is quite a little snuggler
I have been with her for about 18 hours, and I am completely in love with this dog. I have not smiled so much since Caterina left me - I did not realize until now, how much I needed that...
