Any thoughts on how to limit puppy playing in the water pail?
I don't want to limit her playing in the water... it will only get hotter and she seems to enjoy the kiddie-pool. Just don't need water splashed everywhere inside.
I'm afraid if I tell her "no" she will associate it with drinking from the water pail instead of playing in it.

One simple "fix" is to get a flat-sided Water Bucket for a wire CRATE (pictured in the LINK above) and hook it onto whatever part is accessible to your Pup when s/he's loose inside the house -- Can't be overturned & will cut down on a lot of the splashing
Unfortunately that's what we already have, Candi. She dips her whole muzzle in it, swishes back and forth (sometimes chomping), then picks her head up and slings it back and forth. I'm sure it's great fun
I realize we could keep the amount of water perpetually low, but I'm not sure how comfortable I feel with that...

OK, then I would go to my nearest farm animal supplies store & buy their BIGGEST gravity-feed "rabbit style" plastic water bottle -- You know, the inverted type with Lix-It tube & ball water delivery ... They have to LICK the little ball inside the end of metal tube to get out ONE swallow of H2O at a time, LOL. It will attach to the side of your wire crate
Sounds like one if the slow feed bowls might work. She won't be able to stick her muzzle in far enough to fling water but there will still be a decent amount of water. You could also try one if the no-spill travel bowls. Not enough room for shenanigans but they aren't normally very sturdy.
