As if 2017 wasn't quite sucky enough, now Paul has to have surgery tomorrow to have a massive hernia fixed. He will be off work for 6 weeks - which puts him back at work right about the time I was going to have the 2nd hip done...

OMG, it's a Rule of Life, "Murphy's Law" Poor Paul !!!
Kelly, I'm so sorry for everything your family has been through this year, and still has to go through. In the past several years, our family has had a couple bad ones, too. When it rains, it pours......
Best of luck to Paul with his surgery. Wishing him a speedy recovery!
Oh God and are having a real hard time. So sorry about all this. Don't loose courage.
Candi, I don't believe in Murphy's law and i guess you didn't mean it literally. it is just an adage. If people begin to believe in it. they start to connect everything which causes significant problems with this.
I believe much more in what Bob sings (I'd like to hear it). "... bright side ...".
And don't forget: July is the month of my birthday. Means: something very good happened to the world, when I was born. I know, just megalomania. But might become a positive adage some day, who knows.
Wish you and Paul and your fourlegged companions all the best.

So very sorry it's raining on your year so far. I hope the sun comes out soon and brightens everything up for you! I also understand "Is this EVER going to end?" Please know that it does, and it's always amazing how we survive it and usually benefit from it. Sometimes we get to laugh about how we couldn't put our socks on!
Even better, Kelly! Then the chance of having a stroke of luck even doubles. At least!
Aaaand: 1 of August is the National day of Switzerland. Increases the chances of good experiences. But I wish you and Paul will have your problems behind you a long time before. I'm sure everyone here will hold his/her fingers crossed. We're all hoping to hear good news from you.
