Hi Kelly. Your surgery day is coming nearer. I hope you are feeling well and being with good courage. Not too much fear. It seemed to me you were in good hands last time. So everything will pass well. Thinking of you and keeping fingers crossed.

It's absolutely normal to be nervous, Kelly. I used to be extremely nervoue before a surgery. What helped me a lot was to day dream a lot about how relieved and happy I would be afterwards. I thought a lot about what I things I loved to do and would be ableto do again without problems. Like you are looking forward to running again with your dogs and probably other activities which were limited or perhaps impossible. You'll certainly enjoy life much again to the fullest once you've overcome this.

Just imagine all the hands (and paws) of all your well-wishers on the forum, and you may feel a little more secure ..... or claustrophobic!
Looking forward to hear how well the surgery goes.
It helps that I've been through the one surgery, so I kind of know what to expect. I also have a great doctor - did I tell you all he's a dog person? I told him that the first ribbon that Fennec wins in Agility will be dedicated to him
The pain from the first surgery was not all that bad - walking around on the bad hip was way worse. Not being able to do things for myself was the hardest thing, I think. Those darn socks!
Thank you all for your well wishes!! It means more to me than you can imagine!!
And if your doctor is a dog person, he will implant something special, so you will be able to run, jump, play all kind of games with your dogs. I bet they are all looking forward to enjoying the new Kelly too.

Well, the surgery was Thursday and I came home on Friday. It went well, and the doc expects another quick recovery. However, since I've had 2 major operations in just a few months, I do have post-op anemia. The hip itself feels great, I can get around on 2 crutches quite well. The anemia, on the other hand, has me a bit dizzy when I move too quickly, and I feel weaker than before. The doc assures me that the supplements will get my iron up in short order.. in the meantime I think we'll have steak for dinner....
The dogs are doing well, and spoiling me rotten I guess Paul is too
