OK, this also involves a cat also but jut heard it today first hand.
I was called by one of my older sisters to come over today.
Her husband of 9 yrs lost his very old cat a couple of weeks ago.
This past weekend they went to their farm as they do most ever week end.
Brother in law was sitting on the raised deck when he heard a really weird crying/whining sound under the deck.
He went down and here was this little pup from who knows where.
There are VERY few other farms/homes near his place.
Pup was COVERED with ticks and fleas so they thought they would take it to the vets thinking they would get it right and take it to the Humane Society or wherever.
After the hour and a half drive home they both knew that had a new dog.
"Cleo" is about 12 wks old and looks to me like a Aussie or Border Collie crossed with maybe a JR. Guessing of course!
She weighs 9 lbs and is an absolute sweetheart.
Very happy, but very tired puppy probably because of round worms, ticks and fleas but that's been addressed now.
I think she's going to be a beauty and heaven help sis and her hubby when she has her heath back because I see a devil in there waiting to be set loose.
Poor little girl! What a stroke of luck that the stars aligned to save her, you're sister and her family have done such a great thing keeping her, she'll have a safe, happy and loving home for life.
Sad and at the same time happy story!
Reminds me on my Lab-Mix, whom I found on a walk, near to death. couldn't hold herself on her legs any more. She even suffered from cinomose but recovered. She is so sweet, she is a great gift for us too.
I don't know her pre-history, but it is very probable that she was abandoned. Many people here have varios dogs and don't castrate them, just let happen what happens. Then they have too many puppies and put them somewhere from where the poor critters can't find their way home any more. Of course not all owners are like this. Most of them do love their dogs.
“If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, then you are a leader” – Rudyard Kipling
I'm so happy that poor little pup was saved by your sister and brother-in-law! Sometimes, the right person is in the right place at the right time. It's sad to think of the circumstances that led to that puppy being where she was, in that kind of shape, but she is in for a good life from now on!
Great story, Bob. That's one lucky little pup. That story is a true case of a rescue pup in every sense of the word. We ended up getting a pet cat some years ago in that same manner. She sort of adopted us rather than us adopting here after we found her as a kitten shivering in our bushes one winter day. Your sister and her husband will have a place reserved in heaven for their kind act. Good on them!
