Anyways, I spoke with a woman here at my work who runs the restaurant and she said the distributors around here do not have the gibblets, all the have is livers and turkey burger...so maybe I'll try the supermarket.
Hi Ken, I live in CT. & use Grade A Shop Rite for alot of my raw items. Try one of their stores if they have one at the Cape. I used to get trukey necks at Stop & Shop ( I know that they are up there) but they no longer carry them here, but may up there. They did not ALWAYS have them though. Shop Rite gets their delivery (at my store) on Fri eve late EVERY WEEK & I call
& order what I want on Thurs & pick up Sat am. I have found that a store with a strong ethnic following is the store that is most likely to carry them on a regular basis. Most stores have chicken hearts, gizzards & liver & backs in the regular meat cases on a pretty regular basis. Hope this helps.
cool. Thank Deanna, I submitted a request to join that forum.
I asked around work today...I'm kind of a hermit and I don't get out much so I don't even know much of what is available locally...I thought maybe a butcher shop may have these items.
I think I still have alot of reading to do...and I'm also wondering if most of you end up purchasing a seperate freezer for this stuff.
Yep. I have an 18 cubic footer- it is big enough to deal with the dog meat and any pesky people I need to give a cooling off period. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> You can buy smaller amounts of stuff from people who cater to raw diet feeders, but for that you will pay extra. I just buy the 40lb cases, and I have three other people who order from me as well. 400 lbs for 8 large dogs isn't as much as it sounds like. :-)
I think you will find that it is not as hard to find a variety of meats as you might think.
