Anyone have comments for or against biothane leashes / long lines? I need to replace our inexpensive cotton long lines and am trying to decide what to get. The thing I like especially about the biothane is that it seems like it would be easiest to clean; ours have been washed a few times after either being urinated on or dragged through other gross stuff... I use them primarily for potty breaks when we are on vacation and there is no fenced in yard. Seems like I will be using them soon for "come" outside the yard as well.
Any recommendations on width? if my dog sees a squirrel that is just too tempting and takes off will the 1/2" break?

We haven't had any complaints about them that I am aware of. People that get them seem to like them because they are easy to clean and they don't pick up grass awns or burrs.
The snap on them is heavy duty. They are designed for tracking dogs that pull into the line. I've got 2 that I used to cross tie my Belgian Draft horse for farrier appointments and they are fine.
A lot of horse people are moving away from leather equipment and going to the biothane material as it is easy to clean and horse sweat doesn't break it down. Mine have been in the horse barn in -20 weather and they remained flexible without breaking.
Yes- that's the material, Candi. Thanks for the feedback, Kelly. They seem like the perfect answer for something that will get dragged along the ground through who knows what!
In the meantime I actually ordered two from a private vendor- mainly because I was interested in colors that LB did not offer. I guess we'll see how it goes! Hoping they get here next week.
Just got my order in- wow these are really cool! Can't wait to try them out.
They are much softer and more flexible than I expected and very bright! I ordered 20', 5/8" HW, orange and pink lines from these folks: http://www.k9noz.com/ .
Great service with a bit of humor if anyone else is looking for a good source.
I like biothane long lines for the simple fact that it doesn't pick up goat heads. If I use a cotton long line I have to go through and pick them out or deal with my hands occasionally getting spiked. Not fun.
I don't like biothane for regular 6' leashes. It doesn't handle very well IMO. I want leather or fabric there.
