I called my mom (I'm out for the country for a month or so). I told them at home about BARF and its Benefits. The next day, they call me and tell me the puppy has severe diareha after eating raw eggs. I told them that there must be something wrong. The puppy is 3 months old used to eating boiled Chicken necks, and rice. Sometimes commercial puppy food. Any ideas on what I should tell them to do?
Switching diets too rapidly, even to a better one, can cause intestinal upset. Maybe that's the problem. Obviously, if it happens more than once, see a vet!!
Wait until you get back in the country and learn more about BARF. Pick out a good quality dog food or large breed puppy food (not just any puppy food, and dog food should be fine) and stay with one food.
Cooking the necks no good and the rice is not really needed and empty calories. Plus there are other things you want to give. There is a good menu on this site in the articles section.

http://www.leerburg.com/feedingqa.htm http://leerburg.com/feedpups.htmThanks Nancy for the links, I sent them to my brother to read. I also recommended that they boil vegetables, and feed her some Fish, and Ribs, and things other than Chicken. I also suggested they retry an egg just to see what happens. I told them to follow the guidelines in the articles. (Ohhh you can't know how frustrating this is for me to be away and have to depend on my mom and little brother).
Stacie, what exactly is acidophilus and can I find it at a pharmacy?
ACIDOPHILUS
This is a powder form of the normal, friendly bacteria that live in our intestines (called flora). Our intestinal flora helps regulate our digestion and stool patterns. Yeast also lives in our intestines. The yeast and the bacterial flora are constantly competing for space, and generally they keep each other in check. Sometimes, however, our bacterial flora can get depleted, such as when taking antibiotics. This allows the yeast to overgrow, which can then lead to a variety of problems:
Thrush
Yeast diaper rash
Vaginal yeast infection
Diarrhea
Yeast infection of the breast
Taking acidophilus replenishes our bacterial flora and reduces overgrow of yeast.
My wife gives them to our kids when they have diarrhea.
