So, it is hot. Probably not by some standards but it is hot for Central New York. Ain't good fer the dogs ta be frolicking in the heat of the day. And the humidity.
It is nice to have central air, and the dogs panting quiets down pretty quick when they come in from the heat of the day. But the up and down exposure to the indoor and outdoor ambient temperatures have me tuned into the dogs behaviors.
Heck, it has me tuned into my temperature deltas. Lots of water, and minerals replacement. And as an aside, it is miserable weather to be demoing lath and plaster walls, a dirty project under the best of conditions.
Seriously, I think it prudent to monitor and control my dogs enthusiasm in this weather, with an eye to reducing durations of activity and effort in a nod to the problems heat can cause for man and beast.
Happy Fourth of July.

It's been VERY hot here.
Hottest April on record, ever and it hasn't let up other then a few days here and there since.
Had a tornado about 10 mile from us a few days ago but no damage here.
Trooper, being an outside dog, gets his 5 gal water bucket cleaned and refilled twice a day no matter how much is still in there.
I also water his belly with the hose at least once a day and he's now heading for the hose when I ask him if he wants a wet belly.
Also have a ceiling fan under our covered patio and that is on full.
Still brings me his Kong no matter how many time I walk outside but one short toss is all he gets in this weather.
Still follows me around the yard with that Kong begging me to play but I resist.
I prefer the heat over the cold so I'm outside a lot but DAMN, this is crazy.

Another thing to take note ofis the temp of the pavement that you dog may be walking on- even when it's only in the upper 70s the pavement can be over 100 and cause burns to your dog's foot pads. Please just bend down periodically and lay your hand on the pavement your dog is walking on and check it.

We are having an unusually long period of hot weather here in the UK, so as well as the usual concerns I always have with the dogs over heating is the fact both the Pointers are in poor health in their old age.
As Bon has a heart murmur, I am keeping sitting room cool, and am not letting them stay outside for very long because I worry the added issue of the heat will exacerbate her condition.
They love mooching around their garden in the summer months, but I'm saving them from themselves.

IWhen it is hot here in summer ,now winter, my dogs always choose tje way (ceramics) to move from one side of the yard to the other, although they have the option to take the much shorter way across the lawn. Would they not decide this on their own, if the ceramics were too hot or do I have to control this too

I have 25 acres of hay to rake and bale tomorrow and the heat index is supposed to be 110. In Minnesota.
The dog usually goes along, but tomorrow I will have to leave him in the house.
The cattle are suffering.

I goofed today.
Been wanting to do a lot of weeding in my flower beds so I spent about 3 hrs in this lousy heat.
Came in and damn near passed out then tossed my breakfast and slept for about 3 hours.
Wife still wants to kick my butt because she's always on me for staying out in the heat to long.
I'm still young and spry for an almost 73 yr old fart and I DO drink lots of water when outside or in .
I just don't under stand! .......

We are warm during the day,but falls to around 9c at night.
But we had to stay in now. Bears are about. The neighbor down the street had to shoot a polar bear Sunday, broke into the house and charged him . Btwn that and the grizzlies and black bears, Harry will just have to play his summer away!
Glad I don't have your heat! + 16 c us hot for my snow loving self! We ard norming at around +19 to +32 so far.
The bugs here are so bad you cannot see it your windows at night, and since I have a severe allergy to bites, I cannot go out during the day.
120 days til snow. Lol.
Harry is a lucky boy, he gets eaten to crud by the bugs, but does not get an itch, or seem to be bothered by them. Gets de-bugged in the porch thanks to a konk machine. He is living a relaxing summer dream life, structured of course!
