My current GSD is getting up there in age, he's protection trained and has been an amazing family dog, great with kids, etc. Unfortunately at some point we're going to have to start thinking about a puppy.
I'm looking for another working line GSD that will hopefully be as great as my current one. I know I could go back to the last breeder, but I am hesitant because of hip problems.
I am in MN, so would like to find a breeder in MN, IA, or WI.
The only way to know for sure is to go and meet them and see the dogs in action.
Just a couple of things that jumped out at me that I personally don’t like:
Limited registration only. If I am paying good money for a dog I won’t accept limited registration. I won’t breed, but that is my decision to make, not my dog’s breeder.
They CGCd a puppy at 3.5 months. Not cool. Puppies change too much - I would not accept a CGC on a dog less than a year old - I prefer 2 years. This is one of the dogs they are raising as a future stud dog...
No protection titles past SchH 1 in progeny. If they are advertising protection sport dogs I would want to see lots of 2s and 3s in progeny.
They would warrant a visit, but I would not put down a deposit based on the website alone.
