Zuzu petals. A new puppy in the house. A female GSD. About 13 weeks old. We get to puppy sit while my daughter is working. Zuzu is her dog.
Smart little dog. Picking up boundaries and commands quickly. High energy little mutt. Lots of praise. Marker training more or less. My daughter's dog, so she sets the objectives and atmosphere.
Zuzu is named after the little girl in the movie It's a Wonderful Life, the perennial Christmas must see.
We are slowly, almost glacially slow, introducing Zuzu to Kai and Titan, and probably never Sam.
Yup, a nice little dog that goes home every night. She is here six days in a row for eight or so hours.
I must have forgotten how much mischief a lively little puppy can get into. Still and all, a nice addition to the mob.
I believe some ice cream is in order.

I'm jealous! I'm glad you explained the name. I knew it from somewhere and it would have driven me crazy if you hadn't reminded me. When introducing a new puppy I like to do it on neutral ground. I need a puppy fix and hopefully it's coming fairly soon. My son and his girlfriend are looking at Cardigan Welsh Corgis through my herding instructor Terrasita. Because my son and his girlfriend both work I will do the early house breaking and basic puppy stuff with marker training. Hopefully I can get it for a couple of months. I don't think the breeding has been done yet but I'm patient.........maybe........I can wait.........honest.........................................AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Oh, I really love Corgis, both the Pembrokes and the Cardigans -- Our neighbors from my high school years had a red Pembroke named Rufus who stole my heart for the breed 55 years ago ... Smart & Obedient

My son is planning to make a shed hunter out of it.
That's a dog trained to hunt shed deer racks/antlers.
Also plans to do herding with it and that's what I'm looking forward to.
My past GSD Thunder was an excellent herder among 10 or so other titles he earned.

What a wonderful arrangement! No midnight potty runs!
It really sounds like fun, Mike.

Congratulations on the addition to the family! Zuzu sounds like a wonderful pup. How nice that you get to have her spend time with you. I'm sure she's enjoying it, too. How lucky for your daughter to have parents who are so good with dogs and willing to puppy-sit!

Zuzu petals, and the saga continues.
The little female GSD is really smart. And mischievous. She has figured out how to open the dog gate between the kitchen and the hallway. She bites a bar and lifts the gate up about three quarters of an inch and pushes. works every time, except when we close the pocket door.
She comes when called, and especially to a whistle. And sits on command, and downs about 75 percent of the time. And sits until released to eat.
I expect she is in the two steps forward, and will take a step back pretty soon. But for a young dog she is doing much better than expected.
Depending on the person, she doesn't do the puppy nip or chew on shoes or pants. She pretty much plays with nylabones and a few other teething tools, instead of chairs and tables. That's a plus.
She willingly uses a crate as her little cave, and that's a plus because she sleeps through the night pretty much.
I remember coming into the kitchen when Titan was a puppy, about six months old, and discovered he had chewed through the cross rungs on three chairs and on the pedestal feet of the table. Should have named him Bucky, for Bucky Beaver. Managed to destroy the maple kitchen set.
She's a high energy and high drive. She is perfectly able and willing to train the trainer. It is a fun experience. As with many dogs, she responds positively to boundaries and abundant praise.
Watching her grow, and feel her strength increase is a view of life.
Anyway, Zuzu petals is a joyous addition. I think my daughter got a really good little mutt.
