I am right handed and tend to deliver treats with that hand. When I use my left hand, I often get the "meat" of my hand pinched by Greta's teeth and it really hurts; this rarely happens with my right hand...
Sounds silly but does anyone else have this problem? how did you solve it? I need to deliver with that hand when she's on my left side; crossing my right hand over to deliver puts her in an undesirable position.
I feel like I use the same treat delivery method with both hands- treat snugged between index and middle finger just above the palm/knuckle and trapped by my thumb until I'm ready to let Greta have it (based on the M. Ellis videos).
I will go back and watch the video in the meantime and see if I'm missing something...
hmmm... re-watched the segment on holding the treat and I think I'm holding it too far into my hand. It looks like M.E. is holding it at the first finger joint out from the hand. Should have re-watched before posting, lol, hopefully that was it.
It's usually pretty awkward for most of us to do things with our non-dominant hand, if we are not used to it. Hopefully, with a little tweaking of your delivery method and a little more practice, you won't be getting nipped.
