My bride has been wiping down the dogs with virus killing stuff. Another precaution. I am more alert to and restrictive of my and their behavior when outside. I would rather be paranoid than surprised.
NY has hard learned lessons and ample incentives to be more tuned in to the value of taking personal precautions.
As a New Yorker, I would simply opine that the virus and potential exposure to it is nothing to trifle with.
I wish you all safety and good health.

Sounds like you're taking precautions and keeping safe!
PS
I just read today about being careful with the more solid dog accoutrements -- leash and collar that someone else may have touched.
Staying in here. One of my daughters and her hubby have done our shopping for us and put in on the porch and ring the bell. Doing lots of reading and watching the back yard wild flowers grow. Sat for hours in the yard today. Had to use my imagination to actually see it grow............but I'll keep watching it.
We are also staying hunkered down at home. We order groceries online and pick them up in the parking lot (or had them delivered one time). The pet supply stores around here are also offering pick-up outside service. We're wearing mask and gloves if we do have to go out anywhere.
I'm grateful that we live somewhat out in the country, so I can get out of the house and move around without leaving my property. I've traveled many miles, walking up and down my driveway and around the fields out back.
We're doing our best to stay safe and stay strong. I wish the same for all of you.
