So, figured I would help IT, and post.
Got into wood carving, during covid! 3 weeks since I started. Now recovering from a slice. Now know, wear the darn gloves!

So far sleeping wood spirits, gnomes, and a few bears. Only done small 1-2inch wide 5 inch tall pieces, til my knives get here. Using a utility knife right now!
It sure passes the time! I am cutting my own willows for wood, its nice and green and pretty easy to cut into.
I got into sculpting in clay some yrs ago. Haven't done it in quite a few yrs. Sculpted a number of terrier breeds in action and had the clay fired. From there I made silicone molds from the originals and did a number of resin casts of them. It was lots of fun but the materials were way to expensive to continue it. I've seen some really cool carvings of wood spirits. ADHD has had me starting all sorts of hobbies over the years but the dog training is one I started young and "keep on truckin" with it today.
Its been great for sasha, she learned my banging knives and wood, vacuuming etc is a part of life, plus I put my desk next to her, so technically I can train and carve!
Would love to see your carvings Bob!
And Connie, I was quite mad at myself for not wearing the glove, it dirties the wood, but I wasn't thinking safety! I think they are cool too, hope to sell to tourists! Once I give away enough to get myself out there in the local shops! Working on a sleeping silver lab right now, as the local gas station dog is a silver lab! So gifting it if it turns out! Too bad we can't post pics here!
