I wish to thank Connie and Bob and everyone at Leerburg who helped me to train the Pinker, to learn about NILIF, to change a monster pup who could not be touched into the best dog that anyone EVER had, ever knew.
He never barked, except when herding, to enhance his limited power. His house training was perfect.
From an 8 lb biting (with aggression, not puppy nipping) who drew blood when I leashed him for the “canine good citizen test” he became a dog who could sort cattle or walk unleashed thru crowds in Palm Beach, ignoring the little yappers,, but tolerant of old ladies who just had to touch him. Once in West Palm I walked to a hardware store and as I entered the building remembered I had no leash. Didn’t matter. He made me proud. He learned to swim, to fetch, to bring pliers vs a hammer when fencing. He was my constant companion. He never slept on our bed except when we travelled, and learned the word for
“La Quinta” at the next exit on our road trips. For this special treat he would lie on the king bed motionless on a towel. He never really wanted you to touch him, but he so loved the closeness.
In my proudest moment, I attended a herding clinic for English shepherds, just to learn,. At the end of the clinic, I asked if my non English shepherd could have a go. He outdid them all. People applauded!
I will never have a dog like that again, a once in a lifetime experience,.
It would never have happened without you guys.
Keep on spreading knowledge. It brings good to the world.
Forever grateful,
Betty

So sorry to hear, Betty. I am glad I got to meet Pinker in person. He was an awesome little dog, and you made a beautiful team.
Hugs, my friend.
God Saw You Getting Tired

God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so He put His arms around you
and whispered, “Come to Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
hard working paws at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

Oh, Betty, my heart is breaking for you. You're right, he was so very unique, one of a kind, and I know he took a very big piece of your heart with him. Pinker was so lucky to have you. I know it was a big challenge at times, but you gave him the very best life any dog could ask for. May the passage of time help to heal your pain.

(Here's the first part of this thread:

He was an astonishing little dog!
Betty, you did an amazing job with him. Whatever guidance you got from Leerburg folks, you took and ran with, amplifying it and turning the Pinker completely around.
Swimming, fetching, passing tools, becoming a Leerburg prizewinner ... HERDING!
What a team.
We won't forget him, Betty. What an impact your work with him and his wonderful progress made!

I’d like to post a photo of the Pinker. It seemed to me that was allowed, just once, at death.
Could someone help me to do that? Perhaps I could send admin a photo? I can’t cope with Photobucket etc.

Can you email me the photo, and I'll figure out how to post it (or, if need be, I'll find out from I.T. tomorrow)?
I'll send you my email address right now in a PM. (It's the same one you had a while back, but you may not still have it.)
E.T.A. Just sent you a Private Message with my email address.
