For those of you that supplement with Grand Flex did you start them on it when they were young or do you only give it to your aged dogs?I have had recent excellent results with this product on a three year old American Bulldog with bad hips.I am thinking it might be a good idea to give it to my young dogs that are worked.Could it be sought of a preventative of stiff joints when they get older?

Placed husband's competition dog on GrandFlex when dog was diagnosed with Lyme disease last year. Best supplement we could have added. Dog was on Rimydal intially; was able to take him off entirely and just the Grandflex, omega-3 and vitamin E. Dog just turned 5 and has been on it a year.
Young female that is training (2.5 years) is also on it. Like the idea of the amount of C in it. And she is also worked consistently
Glucosamine/chondroitin increases the amount of "padding" in the joint. That's it (in simplified terms). If the dog has a problem the improperly formed joint is still there, but the additional padding helps the poorly formed parts to not cause as much pain. This extra padding can help prevent arthritic changes in diseases where the two parts of the joint rub together because there isn't enough padding. However, the improper joint structure is still there. That is also why you can't just give the supplement for six weeks or something. It has to be given for the life of the dog because it is just increasing the padding but not changing the joint conformation.
I'm not sure what grandflex has in it beyond the glucosamine and chondroitin, but that's my take on giving G/C.
