Are you refering to the the new AKC's Working Dog Sports(WDS) that starts a 3 year trial period as of Jan. 2007 ? 4 Breeds are allowed to participate...Bouvier des Flandres, Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd Dog, and the Rottweiler. This is a Parent Club driven program we need to get the Mal in there. )~
JMO.
Yes, it is on the AKC website ... here is the link Working Dog Sport AKC
Here is another good link for thought ... AKC is required to ..
and another of interest .. AKC WDS News
Leerburg also has a page to read on this WDS Leerburg WDS info
Hope this gives you a little insight !@! Melissa.
Sorry, but any "protection" use that term loosely program that comes out the box, eliminating the Mal has zero credibility and really sounds like a weekend warrior program. BTW, did anyone notice it's run by AKC
PS: on second thought maybe the Mal not being in this is a good thing for Mals.

Well, they have to have something that their version of the breed can decently compete at. Once ya' water down the breed, ya' got to water down the competition, too.
I know a lot of people are anti-AKC including me. They are a club for people and less for the dogs.
But, I would argue that the more organizations that sponser protection related trials the more interest will be fostered and the greater acceptance and credibility of having a "protection" dog will evolve.
I am all for it. Then time goes on there will be one or two top end organizations and several of lesser stature.
A range of quality will evolve and allow people to participate where they can.
Kevin,
I can buy off on that. As much as I despise the AKC that does make sense. I guess, I'm just paranoid they will butcher some more bloodlines that are strong producing in this type of work. I just have the feeling of gettin in bed with a known criminal, and hoping they are sincere when they say they have my best interest at heart ya know. But you do make a great point. and Lord knows we need more dog folks, being this country is so spread out.
