To clarify, I was seeking opinions on brands, not whether or not the collars work or are humane, pls.
I'm looking at the Tri Tronics, but would like input from the rest of you before making a final decision.
I own 13 or 14 Tri Tronice No Bark Limitors and use them when needed in my kennel. They are an excellent product.
I just started selling the Dogtra models. I like the look of these products. They are cheaper than the Tri Tronics and if they are anything like the DOGTRA training collars I am sure we will have a lot of happy customers.
I have not seen any other brands on the market that I would coinsider selling.
Until very recently I’d be leaning towards the TriTronics for reasons of reliability. But within the past year Dogtra has made huge strides forward and I think that their products are now easily the equal of TriTronics. But they have features that make them more advanced.
But right now Dogtra bark collars are less expensive (They were less expensive before and now they've reduced their prices even more) and they are easier to adjust to your dog. On the TT collars you put the collar on the dog. If he continues barking, you remove the collar, get out your wrench and unscrew the old contact point, screw on the new contact point, put it back on the dog and wait to see if he barks again. If he does, you must go through this procedure again. With some dogs you might have to do this four or five times. TT doesn’t even ship the collar with the highest level contact point. You have to call or write them to get it.
With the Dogtra you simply turn a dial one notch at a time to get to the next level.
If I was going to buy a bark collar I’d go with the Dogtra now. Lower cost plus more convenient. That’s rare to find these days.
Lou Castle has been kicked off this board. He is an OLD SCHOOL DOG TRAINER with little to offer.
I read an article about this hunt trial. One guy's dog lost and was disqualified because he would not bark when he treed. The guy accidentally left the bark collar on during the hunt. This thread just reminded me of this article.
