I had Scruff scheduled to get her shot Saturday, but after some soul-searching I decided to let her spend the night with her previous caretaker, so at least she and her boyfriend would be assured that I wasn't euthanizing a healthy? dog. Scruffy passed away alongside her friend on her couch at 7pm last night, she went quickly and peacefully, all on her own, on her own terms. And thankfully, she wasn't alone like she would have been if I'd kept her home while I was at work. It all went so much better than we mere humans had planned for her, I belive it was a sign of God's mercy for Scruff and me. It couldn't have happened any better for her. The only down point was that I found out at work, and my jerk foreman wouldn't let me off work early to grieve with them. It was a long sad night. My thanks to you all for your condolences, may God Bless you all richly.

What a wonderful way to pass on. Leaving this earth sleeping in the arms of a loved one has got to be the best way to go.

I am sorry for your loss. At least she did not pass alone. I felt guilty euthanizing my schnauzer this past september, but couldn't bear the idea of her suffering while I was away for the day. It is a hard decision and she was letting you know it was the right one and it was her time.
