On November 30th 2003, Deputy Glen Searles of the Onondaga County Sheriffs Office in New York fell in the line of duty. Deputy Searles was assisting a motorist on I-481 that had went off the roadway. He was getting flares from the trunk of his patrol car when a caravan swerved into the rear of his patrol car striking first him and then the unit.
Deputy Searles had approximatley 2 years on the job and was an investigator with the ME's office prior to becoming a Deputy.
