Right now i have a 6 month old gsd pup I have been using the methods on the flinks video for building drive for about 2 weeks so far my pup seems to have great drive when we are at my house or the park down the street but when we go to the training field he is more interested in smelling around and trying to get to other people I am being very animated with the toy and he starts to go after it after a while but by then he is a little worn down will this go away as he matures or do i have a problem on my hands?
You might try letting the dog out of the crate while on lead to do its business and get its ya ya's out for a minute or two. Then try putting it into prey drive. If it is still distracted, back into the crate. Then request the help of another handler and their dog to be worked in prey drive while your dog has to sit there and watch in frustration. If possible try to make sure that your dog is also elevated; ie. a truck bed etc.
