I have been reading the articles on multiple dog homes and one thing I haven’t found an answer to is-do dogs protect other dogs that are in the same household. Example-if you are on a walk with 2 dogs both with good nerves, and a stray dog comes running at one and attacks, will the other one attack to protect it? Is this something you can train a dog to do-to protect another dog?
If this question has been asked and responded to in the past-please point me in the right direction

I've seen my dogs do this, but I think their motivation is just as much to get in on a fight as it is to protect the other dog.

MY GOD YES I would protect my dog to the fullest extent -I was just speaking Hypothetically. Yes it is my job to protect my dog from all the other wacko dogs out there, not another dogs, and I am probably one of the most protective mothers you'll ever meet. I used a bad example, for which I apologize. And for the record if it matters I have only one dog.

Just curious, how strong is the pepper spray you guys carry in the U.S.? In Canada, civilians are restricted to "Dog Repellant", which is only 5% Oleoresin Capsicum, or 0.5% Capsaicin. When board members talk about the effectiveness of pepper spray on dogs, I'm never sure whether or not this would hold true in Canada.

Once at the dog park this guys GSD attacked our dog Morris. The other 2 were on him in probaly less than 30sec. The dog decided it wasn`t worth it to fight 3 or that could have been really ugly. And before I get flamed I don`t like my parents taking the dogs to the dog park but I go along anyway because they don`t listen to my mom.
I had a pair of Siberian Huskies, 1 male and 1 female. Great dogs, they would walk and heel in unison. They actually felt empahty for each other too, if one got corrected or was getting a 'talking too' the other would sometimes ask for mercy on the others behalf. They certainly had some very interesting behaviors and were very much a team.
Usually, I would take them for walks on the levy. It was an area where leashed dogs were allowed. Of course, every once in awhile there is some idiot with a dog off leash, or a dog that is wandering on its own. Usually in such encounters I would command the other dog away and there would be no issue. Every once in awhile a dog would come in and try to attack one of my Huskies. The Huskies would respond in a team like manner. One would counter attack high and the other would counter attack low. They were a definite team when it came to defending each other.
