I was wondering what the difference is between the following ring sports in france
1. Pistage
2. RCI
3. Campagne
4. Selectifs
I see these in many french dogs pedigrees and I was wondering how these differ to the normal FR3.
Thx
Hi Chris,
Pistage is the french version of tracking and there are different levels and types.
Selectiffs are the final trials, it is not a sport. So when you see that on a pedigree ,that means that dog participated in the finals of that year.
Campagne is different from Mondioring, actually a lot different. The only thing that they are alike is that both use accesories in some exercises and have scenarios. It has almost the same exercises of French Ring plus Pistage (Tracking) and Water work. The event is always held in a natural enviroment (including the obstacles). It highest level has a defense of handler with the dog muzzled.
Mondioring is nothing compared to Campagne, specially when you compare the H.A. work.
I wish I had a better english to help you out.Hope this helps.
I read a little about Campagne once, but it was a pretty rough translation from a website. I sounded really interesting. I do remember it saying that the trials were always held in a large natural environment w/obstacles. I guess its kind of like the steeplechase for horses. I'd like to learn more about it.
