I'm not a Rott guy but I will say they probably look like the toughest, most ideal manstopper I've ever seen. 1/2-Doberman~~1/2-Satan. lol
Last week I was at a gas station and I saw a guy who had one with it's ears clipped. It looked really good. I thought they couldn't look more haas, I was wrong. Now for me I don't care of a dog's ears are cropped or not. I'm not against clipping the ears at all.
Question is though has anyone seen this, or done it for themselves for those who have Rotts? Maybe someone can find a picture for all you Rott guys in here.
Are you sure it was a rott? The Beauceron can look similar if you are not used to seeing them, and they do have cropped ears. Tho they do have a long tail.
I don't know why anyone would want to do that to their rott anyway because they are SUPPOSED to have flopping ears.
Brad, I agree that you thought it was a rottie! I have now and before and been around the breed for many years and never seen their ears standing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
There are more than five in the country VanCamp. I know of 2 here in po dunk nowhere Maine alone. I am trying to think of any other molossers that have similar markings to a rott. There are tons of whacky new breeds out there with those junk-yard crop jobs going on.
Yes this could have been a Rottweiler. Why someone would choose to do it is beyond me but I've heard it asked about before. I doubt you'll find anyone on a reputable Rottweiler board or even this forum who has done this to their dogs. Mainly because it is NOT breed correct and NOT necessary for any purpose, whatsoever. It was probably one of the backyard bred Rotts of this world who's owner had little regard for the breed or breed type.
I couldn't find any photos of this but I don't think it would look too well because of how broad the Rottweiler's head is and how short the ears are, they probably would look best the way pitbulls are cropped (ears are short and close to the head vs a doberman or boxer's cropped ears which stand tall and are shapped more).
For all the people that say it was a Beauceron, EAT IT. I know what I saw, I should've mentioned that the guy told me. This hillbilly was so redneck that I would've loved to see his facial expression when I said the word Beauceron. PIZWIZ, I know you may be trying to help but don't tell me what I saw man. Now I would see your point if I had possibly never seen this breed, but I have. Not in person but I've seen them on TV. The thing is this dog was clearly a Rott not just from what the guy said but this dog was one of those typical Rotts you see that's about 150lbs plus.
You tards act like I said I saw a UFO. Jesus Christ . . . lol.
On clipping the ears I don't see the problem. He did it I assume because it looked good. That's the main reason these things are done regardles of what the excuse is. In my opinion.
