I have a 7 month old male rottie and he's 70 lbs right now and about 23 inches at the shoulder. He is my first rottie and I am wondering about where he'll end up.

70lbs at 7 months is not bad for a Rottie. This is not science but he will probably be as big as his forbears his Sire, how big was he. If your dog comes from a Rottie family that are big, or bigger then normal he may get to be pretty big.
The spread seems to be male full grown adults gets to be 80 - 120lbs, usually the smaller ones have more agility and have better stamina.
But there are some large Rotties that are fit at 120lbs and can move out. But how you feed them and exercise them can vary the end results. Your dog seems to be from a large dog family tree. He is already 70lbs at 7 months!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
The largest fit Rottie I've heard of ran about 15Xlbs of muscle, then you have the 150lbs of bubbler that can run a block (my neighbors Rotties).

His sire is about 115 lbs, a big boy and his mother was only about 70-75. I am keeping him in good shape, he has started training in agility and tracking and I will definately be trying herding, and depending on an evaluatuion a low key schutzhund training in the future, I wanted a smaller and very workable male, so far hes it!

70 lbs at 7 months sounds good for a show dog, not too good for a working Rottie. In 4 or 5 months you will have a better idea.

This pup would never make it in the show rings around here, the 4-6 month old males have been his size! He doesnt have any show qualities, when i saw 70 lobs on the scale I was blown away, hes really not a huge pup.... but as you said, I'll be waiting to see where he ends up
In your opinion where would you want a working male to be at this age?

If I was a betting man, I'd bet your dog will end up about 105 - 115lbs. If he is fit and has the right amount of drive, I don't think you will have any problems training him to do whatever you want.
What is the standard weigh of a show Rottie in your area? In my neck of the woods, they use to want them big and muscluar 120lbs Plus dogs now they seem to be running 90-110lbs dogs, with squarer muzzeles and normal size heads. At one point they where really wanting the big headed dogs.

They're looking at dogs to be at least 115 lbs to even get looked at in the ring, these dogs look like tractor trailers and really aren't very impressive. The heads are huge, and some are carrying so much extra floppy skin, I personally like the tight, and athletic look on a compact dog, not a huge droopy truck... so the show ring is not an area we will be exploring.

A show Rottweielr, or a winning show Rottweiler? To win the dog has to be over 120lbs and fit, to win the big shows in AKC. In USRC anything can win on any given day, the shows are pretty small now days. The winner of this weekend's NE Regional didn't beat one other dog to win Sieger.
