Well in the KNPV they're not allowed to enter because the Dutch look at it as Police Dog program, from what I hear.
I think they can compete in the ring, and there's some out there in Schutzhund. There's not too many Pitbull people on this board, someone may know though.

I know of several that are titled in NAPD to at least NPL 2. I am not sure if a dog of any breed is titled at NPL 3.

Really? Well I guess that's one for the APBT, my hat's off.
I wonder what type of success you're liable to see with this breed now that the E-collar is coming out more?
I'm not saying they're a dumb breed but they don't seem to be able to be trained as easy as other protection breeds on average, that's why I ask.

From what I have seen with the Pits I don't think they are any more difficult to train for PP than any other breed. They tend to be a bit on the defensive side, and take a bit of practice to teach the prey type games, once they understand what you want they do fine with it.

Believe me it not hard training a APBT for any sport it the people who are the hard heads!
every APBT I've had was very smart VERY athletic, strong and will die pleasing you the thing you look for in a working dog.
these comming years you will see more APBT in the sport.

Well I wish the Pit community luck. I have no problem with this breed as long as my GSD isn't in their path, lol.
I read where some judges of today don't even want to judge one in trial. I saw where one guy it happened to. I thought that was pretty chicken----. A dog has the right to compete.
I think the Ring is the ideal place for this breed I would think, because there's no tracking. This would help them save time sticking to what a PP Dog does best. Since they'll never be police dogs, there's really no point in them competing at it in my view. This can help concentrate on building their lines for people rather than dogs. Other new protection sports out there with live scenerios would work great too to help.

Maybe people want to show everyone out there that the apbt CAN do everything the other dogs do and do it with style. From what I got from your post (correct me if I'm wrong) you are either implying that pit bulls cannot track or that it is not practical to train them in schutzhund because they would never be police dogs (even though I believe there are a couple of K9 pit bulls out there). Either or, I disagree. Pit bulls can track. A dog's olfactory ability is phenomenal regardless of breed. No, the won't repond to "sook platz" like a GSD would but with some good training you can definitely teach them to track. The tracking in schutzhund is not very practical anyway.

We have a handful of pit bulls at our club. We train for schutzhund. A few of them already have titles and some are in the process. We also have a few nice prospect pups that are from a SchH3 apbt bitch. Her first litter produced excellent dogs with great nerve and tons of drive. None of them are XXL though. I like a medium sized pit much better.

Yes they can track, but to me what's the point generally. They will never be used as police dogs, even if they were head and shoulders above any working breed theoretically. I think with several breeds tracking is a waist of time unless you want to do it period. The reason they will never need it is because you won't see them in law enforcement. There's less and less GSDs every year in Law Enforcement which is tough enough, I can't imagine APBTs, Rotts, Dobies, being used whether they can be or not. There will be some, but through they years the handful would get smaller and smaller.
As far as APBT being used in law enforcement, is that in the US? Because I wouldn't think because of their notorious image they'd be considered, for Public Relation reasons. I don't know, I haven't heard of them being used.
