We just bought a female. She's two months old and I would like an approximation of how heavy/tall she's likely to get and how long it'll take until she stops growing.
In addition, how much exercise does the breed require?
You bought the puppy so I'm assuming it wasn't a rescue so this must be something you thought over really carefully right? Well, doesn't sound like it.
Did you see the pups parents? That might give you an indication of how large or small the bitch will grow.
If you don't even know the pit bull is in the terrier family and requires mass amounts of excercise, why did you even get the dog.
This dog will be up for adoption in 6 months, if anyone wants a 6 month old pit, keep your eyes open for it. Well, never mind, this person will just blend in with all of the other irresponsible pit owners out there. This makes me sick.
Andy
I understand Joe's frustration about a great breed, but I don't know you well enough to rip you based on that one question.
The Pits vary considerably in size. My brothers game bred Red Nose female is 6yrs old and a very compact 37 lbs. My daughters rescue Pit is 8mo old and a tall, racy 50 lbs. I agree with Joe on knowing both parents will help, but the dogs in theit background can also have a big influence on size and weight. Unless you know a number of dogs in your dogs background, it's a crap shoot.
And lots of activity to keep it out of trouble. Activity doesn't necessarily mean exercise. No pupy should be overexercised. The bull breeds can muscle up very young, but dont push them to to fast. Lots of play time with you is plenty at this age.
Joe, what makes ME sick is idiots like you who know nothing about me or my situation yet choose to get on their high horses and make totally unhelpful posts like the one you just did.
The question really is, are YOU for real? How ironic that your name is Noble when you're exactly the opposite.

What I think he means is, because Andy is asking the questions he is, it is quite obvious he didn't put much research into buying a breed which IMO should only be bought by very experienced dog owners, and ONLY from a very reputable breeder.
With all the pit attacks happening these days, I can certainly see where Joe is coming from.

Well, how ironic it is that you have a "Dr." title in front of your name which usually reflex intelligence.
If you went and bought a dog such as the pit bull and you have no answers to the questions your asking on your own than you my friend are a space cadet.
Again, anyone want a pit bull with no training? I have a feeling this dog will be up for "adoption" once the "cute puppy syndrome" wears off.

Andy,
I would suggest we not resort to name calling. Joe is a guy like many on this board who will not sugar coat anything. He is actually a pretty nice guy who I've had some private email conversations with. I see his point in that one should do research on any breed before they get a dog...especially a breed with the reputation the APBT has. However, I do understand you feeling like you were treated a bit rough for just asking a question. May I suggest we all play nice.....certainly no name calling please. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

With all the pit attacks happening these days, I can certainly see where Joe is coming from. Now that I don't agree with. You can get great rescue dogs, and the Pit is not the only dog in the stats for bites etc.
