I was looking over the posts on the "looking for info" thread and I noticed that my new pups'( Nero, 6 mos. old now ) great grand father is mentioned.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me about some of the dogs in his grand and great grand lines.( am I phrasing this correctly?)
His great grandparents are:
Lasso vom Neuen Berg / Yassko von der Roten Matter
Tina vom Lechtal / Goldi vom Hainbrunnen
Karly von Arminius
Vilma von der Wienerau
His grandparents are:
Enzo von Buchhorn
Coco vom Quartier Latin
Star vom Hasenborn
This Pup is sooooo mellow that sometimes I think he'll be in a coma by the time he reaches adulthood!! He is wonderful as a pet, great with the kids, but no real drives of any sort that I can see!( maybe food , that's it!) He'd rather chase my female when she's running after a ball than chase the ball itself
I really love him because he is such a gentleman, but he is so different from my other dog ,Bella, that it's hard to believe they are the same breed.
I would love to hear if anyone is familiar w/ any of the dogs in his pedigree and if so what they were(are) like.
Thanks all, I know that there is alot of knowledge out there!

I've been around Lasso. Nice dog, sweet disposition, great pigment. Not real tough in the bitework. He was the 1997 World Sieger and is still standing at stud at Drachenberg Kennels in Sun Prairie, WI. They are at http://www.drachenberg.com

Van Camp is so friendly
I am not a fan of show dogs. I have owned a few dogs that had some of the bloodlines that your dog's have, but that is all I can tell you about the pedigree.
What I can tell you is that the dog's I owned were soft in temperment, some had play drive, others did not, but none were super. Protection ranged from nervy critters that where scared of a tree that was to close to the helper, to ok dogs that would not back down, but were not power hitters either.
I can say that the best producing show dog that, I would consider having him in a dog that I own, would be Fedor Arminus. I have seen a son and aboyt 10 or so dogs that included him, and they were all capable animals. I have seen people blend with working lines and get good results, which is not something we see alot. The one's I saw all had strong prey, good fight, and had a medium to hard temperment. That is about all I know in-depth about the show GSD.

Hi everyone! Todd,I am reassured to know you are out there
Pete, thanks for the site, it was very cool to get to see Nero's great grandfather. The resemblance is amazing!!
VanCamp, you are hysterical..LOL..
Yes Mike,Van Camp can be sooo sweet
Well, to tell you the truth, I have 2 GSD's from different molds. I had Bella 1st and she is a high drive dog.She is my 1st Gsd ever(purebred, that is)and I wasn't planning on getting the pup.I went to see some puppies and my family fell in love w/ a cute ball of fur that didn't rip our hands to shreds like Bella used to.
My husband liked the sire.He was a very friendly dog, very very red in pigment, and seemed stable in personality.I had all of my kids there too and he was great w/ them.So my husband hoped that the pup would be like him too.
He is just like that.I have to be soooo careful though w/him to make sure he doesn't get scared of things(I'm trying to build confidence). He is really soft and sensitive to me.I haven't even tried to train him formally yet, just sit.I really don't know what to do w/ him. He has no drives that I can see, except maybe food!!
Now that I have dogs from opposite sides of the spectrum, I can say that I prefer the personality of the working dog.I like the drive and strength of character my bitch Bella has.I have found that I can train her at a DVG club near to me, but I haven't been able to make it there yet. ( having 4 kids takes up so much of my free time LOL!!)
As for Nero,I guess I agree w/Michael that the pedigree has produced a dog better suited to hang w/ the kids playing in my yard Also, he is unilateral cryptorchid, so I'm having him neutered on July 8th
Thank you all so much for your feedback

hello jeannette,
I work for a breeder who breeds mostly showlines,
with a few exceptions. The stud she's using now for
showline litter's is a son of a dog you mentioned
(Enzo vom Buchhorn.)I believe Enzo was 2000 seiger
in germany, and USA seiger same year. This dogs name
is Falco von der Dunjeschenke,he produces really
nice looking pups(nice pigment). Some of his pups do
participate in schutzhund, but are sold mainly as
nice family pet's.

Hey BK4 are you doing that margining (is that a word? ) or is it just happening?? You know what I mean, the short lines in your post?
Just curious. . .
