how can i tell if my gsd is a working dog or a show dog? my female gsd has an all german bloodline. I got her pedigree and i saw that all of her relatives are at least sch1, while most are sch3. Does this mean she is from a working dog line?
ALL showline. Anka and Angie are litter sisters as well, so you've got a 2-2 linebreeding on "A" vd Amperauen. Lemme guess, the dog is black & red? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
she is black & yellow. she has very good drives and a very, very good protection instinct. i ahve read that the american showline gsd are poor for protection and obedience training. i have two gsds, the male is all brazilian, showline(i guess, since he goes to shows) and learns pretty quickly.
thanks for the information, if you have any tips, i'd be very glad with them.
The show dogs are bred for looks and not for working ability. With this concept the genes what are needed for a working dog were not important for those breeders. I had a show dog and he was not able to fight his way through a wet paper bag. CHECK OUT THE PEDIGREES OF THE SIEGER SHOW DOGS AND THE BUNDESSIEGER PRUEFUNG DOGS OR POLICE SERVICE DOGS AND YOU CAN TELL A DIFFERENCE. You can see the same thing in Labrador retriever too. There are many Retriever out there without any drive and ability to retrieve.
