I am just curious about something. I know that these days it is hard to find really serious dogs. What I mean by that is a dog that is willing attack a threat without prior training. I know these dogs are far and few. I have only seen one or two in my time. This kind of dog is undesirable for most people and they can be a serious liability for an inexperienced handler. I would like to know what specific dogs or lines produce these kinds of dogs. I know you can find dogs like this with the old czech lines. but today, sport has taken over most of the GSD world and there is no need for a really strong dog except in law enforcement. i am really interested in knowing how to produce dogs of this caliber.

Would you want to go into a boxing match with no training?? Probably not, why would you want to send your dog into battle without the knowledge to win the fight. Every dog needs to learn how to fight before you can depend on him to protect you or your family. Just my opinion.
So you are saying that there is no such thing as a dog that will protect his family without any protection training or any natural aggression to strangers?????
I am talking about dogs with mega fight and civil drives that will bite a man regardless of whether or not he has a bite suit on. I know this cannot be achieved without training. but I want to know of dogs that produce hard dogs that can be used in real life situations. Dogs that are known for producing the types of dogs that I previously mentioned.

Ok, I think you answered your own question. A dog has to be taken to the level your talking about, it's not born like that. A dog's attitude is as much dependent on it's environmental influences as it is on it's genetics. A genetically perfect dog can be screwed by a bad environment and good upbringing, therefore no dog can be brought to protect your home with no training.
Training is part of it. But DNA is an even bigger part. No most dogs will not naturally protect humans tho we all like to think so.
Otoh, I know of a pet collie X who bit an intruder solidly on the arm to protect his family. This was a very friendly, social little dog. Who knows why he did what he did. Most definitely was a fluke of genetics.
i wouldnt go as far as to say that no dog will protect a home or family without training. I've seen dogs that were poorly socialized and confident that were fine with their owners but would go at it with anyone that tried to get near their house. but i think we're gettign off subject. i think the first question was just asking for dogs or lines that produce dogs that will be serious working dogs and will have the confidence to back up all the training that goes into it.
First off I would like to say that My Father has a Chessepeke bay retriever that has had absolutely no protection training at all. This dog is naturally susicious of strangers and will not let anybody in the door that he does not know. One time someone walked toward my step mom with a stick or something in their hand and the dog snapped! He thought the person was a threat to her. I know it sounds crazy but yes, it is a retriever we are talking about. Now with that said it is hard for me to beleive that there are no working GS dogs that carry these kind of genes.
