Hi everyone back with another question. I have recently started training with a Schutzhund trainer. As some of you know I have had alot of problems with Kanes (GSD) breeder (long story). Anyways I dont have any pedigree on Kane other than his parents names. Breeder wouldnt send one and refuses to contact AKC so I can get Kane reg. that way I can get the pedigree through them.
The sire is Lajake von Haus Kuhn and the Dam is Corries Carla v Robinwood. Now I can only imagine what kind of dog Carla is since Robinwood in general is crap, but Im not familiar with Haus Kuhn.
Anyways my trainer was hoping to look at Kanes pedigree so he would know what to expect from his lines. So Im just wondering if any of you can tell me what you know about the Haus Kuhn line?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of them? Thanks for any advice or oppinions you have to offer.

I can't help you with the pedigree but I think your trainer should be able to read your dog and know what kind of a dog you have and design a training program for him.

Joseph Kuhn died a few years ago. Good reputation as a breeder of strong working line dogs.
Without the pedigree?????? Who knows what you have. But as far as training that should mean little.

Thanks for the replies. The trainer didnt say I had to have it, just that he likes to see them.
Im glad at least one of the parents had a good background. And yes your right no telling what I have! He sent me AKC papers and I recieved them but they were lost in the mail when i sent them off. AKC cant help me at all, already tried that. They said the breeder is the only one that can help me. He has to request a copy from AKC. So pretty much Im screwed. He will not have any contact with me at all.
But again thanks for he info. I dont suppose theres a website with any info on Joseph Kuhn is there?

All contact with him was via phone, mail, and personal visits...this included people supplying recommendations on his dogs.
My mentor was a good friend of his (she racked up many hundreds of dollars in phone bills with him) and used some of his dogs and lines. I've got a bitch that comes down from some of his older dogs.

Thanks Mike I went to your site. You must be refering to Kohl. Shes beautiful . Thanks for the info on Joseph. I assume thers no more Haus Kuhns being bred? I mean I know there are offspring but Mr. Kuhn doesnt have anyone else taking over? Family? Just curious. Well thank god theres at least "some" decent working lines in Kanes pedigree. Too bad the Dam wasnt any good.
At least I doubt it.

My department had purchased dogs from Joe Kuhn in the past. I believe his brother, who also bred GSD's, may still be alive. I don't remember his first name, but he was located in Woodstock,Il. We had purchased a dog from him at one time as well. A firefighter on the city I work for was a good friend of Joe's. How old is the dog,if you know, and maybe he would remember what type of breedings and his dogs at the time.

Steven, Kane is 7 months old, but Im not sure how old Lajake von Haus Kuhn is. All I know is his name. And his reg. number. And I have a picture of him.

ofcourse it is always best to go straight to the horses mouth rather than fiddling around the backside, so i would not give up on haus kuhn. i know they do advertise in dog world, so it could be that they have many inquiries and it takes a while to respond to all of them.
here are a couple of other avenues you could explore if you don't hear back from them:
carmen duggan from canada had carmspack "N" litter out of loanah v h kuhn X carmspack petro. (as well as some other litters from v h iris, v h kuhn and carmspack breeding) quite possible that loanah and lajake were littermates. the akc could confirm that by checking the DL registration numbers. carmspack website is: http://www.carmspack.com and e-mail is: carmen@carmspack.com
if you still can't get any satisfaction, there are a ton of people out there with stud books that do pedigree searches. akc also provides that service. since you have both sire and dam names, that should be no problem.
truthfully, i think carmen could shed a lot of light on your questions about v h kuhn. good luck.
if there are no dogs in heaven, then when i die i want to go where they went. ---will rogers |

My female Penelope is a Haus Kuhn dog. I also used to train at the kennels every Sunday (gonna start again next Sunday ). If you want, I can ask Adam Kuhn about the lines; if I am not mistaken, he has taken over the breeding. From what I have seen, the dogs are nice working dogs, clear nerved, with good prey drive, but then again, I don't know too much about his lines, or the stock that he breeds from. My primary interest was the training end of his business, not the breeding. Send me a pm with your specific questions, and when I go back to the club, I will ask him.
It may take hime a little while, tho, for reasons I don't want to post here.
