I went to the DVG America Schutzhund National Championship in Fort Washington this weekend, boy I had a BLAST!!! LOVED IT!!!
Boy those Mals are real fast!!! But I'm still partical to the GSD.
The Dobi, Agir Miss Jakoso, very nice looking dog, had never seen a Dobi do Schutzhund, got two good shots of him: http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/gsdbestk9/Schutzhund/DSCN4773.jpg http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/gsdbestk9/Schutzhund/DSCN4775.jpg
The ABD, Razor's Edge Kisko, nice looking dog too but boy did he do poorly both in obedience and protection. Should have heard the people screaming when he broke his down and started running after the GSD while the GSD was performing.
Overall however, it was awesome!! I really enjoyed it.
Wow...low scores this year at the Nationals! Of course, the DVG Nationals almost always post lower scores than SchH USA Nationals. On the plus side, the DVG folks that make it to the DM tend to score at a similar level to their National's score - I see a trend with SchH USA in that it seems that their WUSV scores are lower than their SchH USA National's score. Judging differences?
For those of you that were there, do you think the judging was tougher than usual? Or was this just an off year for everybody?
Will, actually, I was pretty disappointed with most of the dogs performance. A lot of dogs did pretty crappy. The ABD never went down on the moving platz (as well as a few others), didn't go up the frame and broke his down stay while being the honored dog and started running after the GSD that was performing at the time.
One of the GSDs kept nipping and jumping up on the decoy when she shouldn't have, and things like that. So no, I think the judges did their job well.
