Like everyone else,they will use dogs from their own country if they can but they buy a lot from overseas,,it makes no difference where they come from its the quality that counts.

I followed up on that site some and found out they used them in the past because they could tolerate the weather better than the European dogs. I couldn't find anything about them being used today. But they are still used in herding.
They came to the states in 1965 or so but I'll bet the protection part has been bred out of them. I don't know if they have ever been in SchH..?
I did find something interesting though. One site said Israel has more military working dogs than any other nation, with the possible exception of France..?
