Hi, my next dog is going to be a Dobermann after some fine Weyemuhle lines this spring, and I have a question:
Some say that the GSD can take harder corrections than a Dobermann (in general) and that the latter may easier ignore commands/co-operation if it's been corrected too hard.
Is there any problems in using prong collars on a Dobermann in general, or no problem at all if the level of the correction is right for the dog?

Every dopie I've seen in the sport wears a prong.
You have to learn the level of correction that is necessary for your individual dog and for the desired result in the training you are doing at the time.
That takes a little more care and thought with a softer dog. You shouldn't need to put a prong on a puppy though.
Robert....Could be who's at the other end of the leash that determines the level of intelligence, regardless of breed. Do you have a problem with size??????
Like with most breeds if a prong is used correctly can be applied with no problems . My dobe female does very well with hers . But with all breeds i would not use on a young pup .Peter
