I couldn't help but notice on many working dog sites that this book by Joel McMains keeps appearing before me.
Let me say this . . . the book is totally false. I read this before coming to this site and it has to be the worst help I ever got. Not only does it not help, it fills the reader with bad ideas and misinforms. Stay far away from this guy please, for your own good. He will give you bad info on training tactics all the way down to diet. He even has a book on kenneling but I wouldn't get it if I were you. In that book he discusses about how he doesn't sell dogs to people if his own dogs don't like them. It seems Joel has private conversations with his dogs. Maybe they tell him things? He owns Dobermans! They aren't supposed to like people.
The worst, most poorly written book I have ever read. Manstopper could actually be amusing if it was shelved in the comedy section-unbelievable-I just kept reading to see if I could become more astounded.
I read 'Manstopper' a while back, it was recommended to me by Richard Cannon, a regular poster on the board. I learnt a few things from it. One thing that stuck me is that with out a doubt Mr. Mcain is plagiarist. The section on poison proofing your dog is lifted from William Koehlers book 'Guard Dog Training'. He dosent even cite Koehlers book in his bibliography. If you indulged in this sort of duplicity in a universty paper yould be expelled.
