I have a young malinois(4-5mos) that seems to have outgrown the gunny sack that I train her with.(she has shredded it and several others before that) I want to take her to the next level with either a puppy tug or a sleeve. Could anyone recommend which one I should use to start with and what a good method for using it would be? Also, how do I know when it is time to start using a helper in her bite work? She is becoming very rough with me but I still think she is just playing.
The next step I would take is the tug. Your puppy is really a little too small for the puppy sleeve yet. Go to the Equipment Section and look for the Tugs and Prey Items.
Not that I know what I'm doing... but I used the tug alone until about 5 months, could have been 4 "can't remember" just long enough till the mouth got big enough to fit around the puppy sleeve with a full bite, then switched... I do however still use the tug on the tie out and for reward fights etc. etc.
My dog just turned 1 yesterday and for his B-day I pulled out the trial sleeve, and checked out how that worked. Not bad.. full bite and he enjoyed killing it.
