Not to reopen a old can of worms, but to streamline the facts in general, terms.
When given free advice on a topic of dog aggression and how it should be handled, yes it good to listen to the trainer thats evaluating the dog in person. But when you research and seek other advice that seems common sense, like if you have reason to believe the dog may bit and has bitten. The advice on this board was to place the dog in a muzzle. Problem solved. Use the trainers advice of not muzzling while he helps you train the dog. But because you have a problem containing the dog (physicaily weak for whatever reason) common sense would have deducted that the dog should be muzzled. Bottom line without seeing the dog in question, this board and apparently the other trainers on another board predicted (and I don't believe in Whoodo) what eventually happened as if they where there.
Who I beleive should feel guilt is her trainer that did not heed or see what was going on right in his face. Sometimes ego can cause even the most experince people to ignore the obvious just to prove there point or who is right.
I don't fault the dog owner for being ignorant (not knowing, it just sounds like an insult), she did everything in her powers to find a solution (to the point of going in a circle and being confused, don't muzzle to muzzle). I fault her trainer for not seeing what you professional trainers were telling her sight unseen. Most of the times 2 + 2 = 4. Undeniably the facts and ending results speak for themself, period.
Hell if yo let being called names, stop you. G.W. Bush jr. would have never been elected President. Did you see the News release of his Havard classroom reunion a "C" average and a most to surprising ending, for most who knew him then.
Of course who you know, and people in the right position helps.
