Time for a new Czech thread...Let's talk about the top stud dogs to come out of Czech. What are people's thoughts? Is it Grim, Gero, other Gero, Dick, Titus...
well, I'm just starting to get into the Czech lines (as far as learning about the old dogs and their influence on dogs of today), but I do have a few that I like. The one I'm waiting to see how he's going to have an impact is Brawnson, very popular, but not overbred, and he doesn't produce a lot of males.
Ditto!
I'm familiar with Brawnson and that's about it.
Todd-
Can you direct those of us who are Czech challenged to some good sites to do some research? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Is there enough progeny on the ground and in the work to collect any meaningful information about these dogs?
It is hard enough to keep even partial track of the handful of pups out of my dog which are now 7 months to 2 1/2 years. Most I couldn't tell you how they turned out. Of the ones I've seen they are doing better than average as a subjective assessment. Yet, I know I won't ever recover the numbers needed for a truly objective assessment. I am certain that this is the way it'll work with everyone who stands a dog to outside stud.
Todd, thanks for the links (got any more? LOL), I already had one of them (von der Suden) but the other 2 were new.
Kevin, well, like I said, I'm new to learning about the Czech lines, so I can't speak on many of them. But, I can tell you that there isn't enough progeny out of Brawnson to rank his merits as a stud dog yet. From what I understand, Mike Diehl limits his stud time, and is very picky about females to breed to him. I do know there are a couple out there working the streets and one female for sure already a SchH3, but still there aren't enough progeny to make an intelligent opinion on his worth as a stud dog or his impact on the breed. I know that I like what I've seen/heard about him, and I'm really pleased with my pup out of him.
Does anyone know how much the export pedigree is when you send the papers back to the Czech people?
I have a male but cannot get an answer from the AKC? It would be a great help to me.Thanx!
Now I got ya. You need to contact the importer of the dog. He can go back to the seller. It should not cost you anything to get it. Alot of times though it does take a couple weeks to get the papers from the Czech Rep. How long ago did you bring in the dog?
