Should czech lines be approached differently than other bloodlines in regards to training? Is it true that they take longer to mature and develop so one should be careful not to put too much pressure while they're young such as in corrections?
They are no different to train than any other lines. They are individual dogs and have to be trained as such. You have be able to read your dog as what it needs and when. Find a good trained to help you with it.
I don't believe they take longer to mature. Usually, when people pressure a dog too young, it is either from inexperience or they are worried about the dog getting locked in prey. I don't believe this will be a problem with Czech lines.
Hi Todd
Well, I guess we disagee again... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
There are two gsd's in our household: looking at 5 generations, the male is WG/BEL/AM and the bitch Czech/DDR/WG. Both came here at 9 wks and 8 1/2 wks respectively and are now 21 and 11 months old.
The maturation rate of these two has been dramatically different in everything from drive developement (I thought the bitch would never have any...!) to focus and attention spans. The male has consistantly been about a half year ahead of the bitch. And from what I've heard from other owners, this is not a gender phenomenon.
IMHO
Ah...that may be. But as a subscriber to solipsism ("the world exists as I perceive it") this sample is large enough for me... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Has anyone delt with Alpine Safety K9 in Phoenix, Az and as far as Chezch lines go, is what he offers worth investigating? Need help asap. Thanks, y'all.
