I know there are a lot of people on this board who are interested in hearing about this dog. Including myself. I mean, really! 2000 Police dog CHAMPION. I have heard of some unhappy customers of his progency. I have heard some good things also. I would like to hear more from some one with some experience with this dog and/or what he produces.

I would never breed this dog. If you want to find out why - go to a trial and look at the dogs he produces - soft light eyed long haired dogs that look weak. Some dogs are better competition dogs than breeding dogs. Bronson is one of these kinds of dogs.

and on the other hand, when mated to a good bitch, he produces well (kind of like any stud dog)...
My Kane is out of Brawnson & Elsa z Pohranicni straze (Lord Clo daughter, linebred 3-3 on Klara z Pohranicni straze). He is NOT even close to being a Coat or Long stock hair (though Brawnson does carry the coat gene). He is high drive, pushy, hard, yet he does not challenge me and is easy to control. I've found another person with a Brawnson daughter that had a similar experience as I did. Kane hit a "flat spot" for a while (5-7mos) but when he hit 8mos old, it's like something clicked and his drives went higher than when he was a pup, he became a bit pushier in obedience & protection. Tracking is always good, always was, always probably will be. Obedience is cheerful and he always wants to please, even when he screws up. Outstanding endurance, whether play or training. Very quick to catch on to something new (taught him how to get his favorite treat, ice cubes, from the dispenser in about 20mins) and retains what he has learned. He is not what one would term a "lover dog" and really only wants to be recognized by myself and my wife, he's not real big on petting. He's also a dominant dog, with other animals not his human family, making sure when someone steps out of line that they know he's the boss of the 4 leggeds. He's also always had a protective nature of alerting on strangers approaching from the rear, but quickly goes back to watching in a sitz after a 2 bark and my acknowledgement. AND he's got great nerves, I've yet to see much that can rattle him, and if it were to upset him, he's over it in a matter of seconds and on with what we're doing without actually missing a step. The only complaints I've had about him were the flat spot and his flea allergy, other than that, he's been a joy to have and work with.

Mike I looked at your web site - very nice. You have nice looking dogs. I can see where your Bronson son (Kane)has very nice pigment. That is Bronson's strong point. I agree with you that he may have produced an occasional nice puppy but I think over all his dogs are soft dogs that lack drive. Look in their eyes - you can see softness. I unerstand that Mike has titled a couple of Bronsons puppies in Schutzhund but not with good scores and I would be surprised if this dog produces police dogs. I read somewhere that there was one police dog in Germany. Must be with a new dog handler.

Stormfronts Bronson hips are only OFA fair. They do not tell you this anywhere on their web site. I had to go to the OFA web site to find this out. I do not know about anyone else but I think a dog that is advertised as a stud dog should have good hips, not barely passable hips. In Germany this dog would not be bred. He only recently got OFAed which makes me wonder why? HMMMM? Why would one wait until a dog was that old to OFA him? Very Strange.

The dog's ZW score of 98 is posted on his page. That will give you an indication that the dogs hips are not perfect. As far as I can tell, all of the female that they've bred him to have 0/0 hips or a low ZW Score. This tells me that they are being pretty careful about what they breed him to. Breeding is about alot of things, hips are very important , but not the only thing to consider. I'm not trying to stick up for unscrupulous breeders, but I think a number of decent breeders have been catching a lot of S!$% on this list lately. JMO.

John you are absolutely correct. it sure is easy to bash a breeder or certain K-9 . Especially when the one getting bashed isn't aware of the bashing.
GOOD POST!!

Is Brawnson just a product of good training and below average genetics? I mean, if he had good fight drive wouldnt he pass this to his pups instead of producing soft dogs? Or do some dogs have good traits, but are not genetically capable to pass them to their progency? Is Brawnson this kind of dog?

While I do not know of this dog, except for the Web page, he is suppose to be a good police dog.
I do not feel though that it is an easy call to see what a male is producing in this country, unless you see first hand a lot of the off-spring because many dogs are never worked. To top it off the one's that are worked are not worked by talented trainers, so we rarley get to see what the end-result is from a stud. So you must rely on knowledge of the people that know.
The OFA is not the best judge of hips so this should not be a make it or break it thing when choosing a stud. It is a good start- and the hip # thing from Germany, we will see in a few years what comes of this.
As far as fighting drive, there is no real solid proof that this drive exists, and most decoys are not skilled, or do they desire to bring this trait (if you want to call it that) out in a sport dog. So to bash this dog really is not a fair thing to do. He has accomplished many great things, and is a street police dog, that has had some good pups according to some, I think that is all that can be said of him.
