I had read somewhere that ddr dogs mature at a slower rate than west german dogs. I have been trying to do ringsport with my girl but without much luck. I believe it to be a threshhold problem, once she's is in drive she does ok I was curious to see if I might have gotten a bit carried away too early. And yes they tried to train her like a malinois, I think that might be problem as well. if this isn't enough info and you have some ideas please let me know I suck at typing and am cramping up already.
I have a DDR male that I bought from a protection training kennel, he is doing well--so far. He has high drive, alert, intelligient and eager to please. The owner of the kennel told not not to push him to far to fast. He said that DDR dogs do mature slower and his at 5 years still acts like a pup when not working.
