What are the chances this dog has drive enough to do Service work? I work for the State Police in Az and work closely with the PD; I know they are looking for a dog and have few financial resources, only 29 sworn officers. I know they would be eternally grateful. Sorry about your bad luck, anyway.

AZ Trooper,
Isn't this a bitch were talking about. I may be wrong but don't most departments prefer a dog as opposed to a bitch when it comes to service work. I myself have never seen a bitch working(Military, Department of Corrections, LocalPD).
Correct me if I'm wrong.
He who has never tasted soap has never bathed a dog
AZ tropper, was this post directed at me? And yes, it is a bitch that I'm selling, so I don't know if she would be appropriate for that reason. I'm not familiar with service work.
I'm not sure if she has the proper drives or not. I think she could do very nice sport work, and probably narcotics, but I don't know about service work. I've never trained a dog for any such thing, but if you tell me what I should be looking for, I'd be more than happy to give you my observations.
Do you know any experienced canine people in the DC area? If you do, they would be more than welcome to take a look at her.
Well, I don't have much to add except for the fact that I was at a dog show in Savannah, GA and the police in Savannah had several females (spayed Mals from Holland) there receiving vests. I'm not sure if these dogs just did narcotics or what, but it might be possible to find out.

Yes, bitches are used and I have an intact bitch that I work. Her mother is also still working and I know of a Mal bitch that is a patrol dog. Military base close to me has two bitches. Males are preferred but bottom line is a good dog is a good dog no matter what the sex.
