Hello! I'm looking for a puppy or young female GSD from working lines. The dog will be a family pet. I'm not sure if it's possible, but we are not looking to spend a lot of money? Thank you for your assistance.
If you are just looking for a family pet, do a dog a favor and visit your local pound. There are so many dogs that need a good home, and will be ever so grateful. Many of the dog's I have working the street as we speak are rescues from pounds and shelters. "Working line" is a selling point for breeders. Happiness is a puppy from a pound.

Adam you might also consider getting a dog from a gsd rescue (You can probably find a fine dog for your purposes) that wants nothing more than a happy family to be part of .
I can't recommend rescue highly enough if you are looking for a pet. My male Konig is a rescue. Great working dog? No. Very well-trained OB show-off that is a welcome guest everywhere he goes? Yes. You'll also save yourself about 3 grand (or more), and get a great animal out of a bad situation.

There's a rescue thread on this board. You can also PM me and I will direct you to many rescue sites from all over the country. Many of these dogs are temperament tested, housebroken, evaluated with children and other animals, etc.

Sometimes you can pick up really good quality dogs from the pound. I know of someone, (I beleive she is on this board) who recently acquired are REALLY NICE workingline bitch from the pound. This is a very nice dog who is going to make an awesome SAR dog.
