since i can't find any good dog trainer in my area. I just want to know if i could send him to someone that could do the job and train him without me being there.
It can be done. Happens all the time. Would I reccomend it...Only if you send him to me!!!LOL
Seriously, without you there, there is going to be a bonding issue. There also has to be a time for you to work with the dog and handler to learn how to properly handle the dog.
Can happen though. I'll mention a bad name in the Doberman world that does it all the time. At least with their own line. House of Hoytt promotes their 'defense' course.
If there is no other way. Then obviously that is the way to go. Be wary though. Be very wary.
My first run in with a protection trained dog was when I was 16 and working as a bather in a grooming salon. The owner had a Hoytt dog and it was "protection trained" by them...
Well, Boo would ALWAYS attack from behind... She used to brag about Boo letting people in the house and then biting them on the rear or back, but if you turned towards the dog she would run for the bedroom :rolleyes:
