I have been asked to help find a trainer for PP in the Nashville area. The feeling I have is that the person looking is also looking to participate in a dog sport. SchH or Ring would be ok, but I think that PSA or ASR would be better for the breed. It would be helpful if the trainer had been involved with breeds other than just Shepherd breeds. The dog is a BRT so it is going to work more like a Bouv or Giant.

Just thought I would refresh this. I can't believe there isn't any trainers in Nashville. These people are willing to drive up to 4 hours to find a trainer.

hey richard,
i have met a few people in the memphis and nashville area that drive to dallas or virginia for their training due to the lack of finding someone they like.
good luck,

He's in the Nashville area, I think. Long term SchH competitor, has produced some nice dogs, and has trained some K 9's for PD's if I'm not mistaken.
Trials at his club were always pretty well run, also. He was always nice to our group from the Greater Atlanta SchH Association when we'd head up there to compete.
Thanks for all the replies. If I remember correctly there is a trainer in southern Kentucky that was recomended in the past. Anybody know who that might be? If I remember correctly they do SchH and have a boarding kennel a couple of hours north of Nashville.

Gene does not have a kennel anymore for the last few years - belongs to Mo Weldon in Bowling Green (Masters Kennels) and am not sure if he does PP. Gene still does training, but not with club. more private training.
Richard,
I live in the Nashville area and have trained with a couple of very good trainers, including Dave Taylor, who was mentioned. I actually train with Carl Smith, who is a K-9 handler and trainer and also good friends with Dave. They train together on occation. I train personally with Carl and he is a very good trainer. If you want to PM me I can give you some numbers and more info.

You said you train with the Atlanta Sch group. Do you know Patty, who owns Vinnie? I have a bitch out of Vinnie. Nice dog, I have never seen Vinnie work though.
