Is it bad or does it make a difference to the dog if the bite sleeve is in his sight when we're just hanging out in the house not training? should he only see it when we're training or does it not matter.
The only time my dog sees a sleeve is during bite training, and only bite training. It is not a toy, or something to be left where the dog can see it, or get to it. My opinion is it should be kept out of sight unless it is being used.
Personally, my truck is always full of training sleeves and suits while my dogs ride with me. They are not allowed to play with them. If I don't give the command to engage the bad guy or equiptment (depending on their level of training) than they should not engage.
If you have a young dog this may be too much to ask, and could lower their drive.
Never let them "play" with the equiptment. My older dogs use the suit as a bed most days.
If the sleeve is out of the way there is no temptation for a teenage child or inebriated guest to put it on and try the dog out. People should know better but why tempt fate ?
