After I posted I did that.LOL. I have heard of this about ten years ago. It was supppose to be very effective, as the German's had good success with it. However, it was second hand information, so.........maybe some of the K9 trainers that have close connections with German trainers could comment if they know anything about it.
I HOPE SOMEONE OUT THIER HAS SOME KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PRODUCT. I WOULD LIKE TO TRAIN MY GSD FOR EXPLOSIVE DETECTION, MAINLY TO GAINE KNOWLEDGE ON THE TRAINING PROCESS. MICHAEL THANKS FOR THE REPLY.
SOKKS was tested by the German Military and a report that was not favorable was issued at the International Congress on Police Service Dogs in Lubeck German in Sept. 1999

Would it be possible for you to comment briefly on what was not favorable about this product? Thanks.
Originally posted by Dennis Trzcinski: DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO FIND THAT REPORT OR DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT THAT REPORT SAID. I don't have writing, but I was at the IDM where the meeting was and spoke with representatives about the presentation. Essentially they found problems with moving to actual amounts of explosives. They attributed it to the micro amounts used in SOKKS.
There is also another product developed at Lawrence Livermore national Labs. I have used it a bit but never exclusively.
I am also aware of some new research being done on training aids that are none explosive for dog teams.
Don't have any details though.
