I see tons of first aid thing on the net for dogs but I see VERY little about what and how to protect the paws of the dog.
I experience a lot of paw problems, from wear problems (because I jog a lot with my dog) to paw cuts (from glass or other things people throw on the ground). Like now she has a cut on one of her paws from the middle of her paw cushion all the way to the site going between the 2 cushions. I believe this was caused by walking on those metal floors or stairs where you can see through.
It is no big deal appart of that I have to take it easy now for a couple of weeks in order to get it heeled. The biggest problem is the water and dirt that goes in it and retard it's from heeling and can cause infections.
Appart of cleaning it out with ISOBetadinne I don't do anything.
Maybe someone knows a good trick or some good product to put on there so it keeps dry and stays clean. So I don't have to put her on rest because she doesn't has much problems with it.
What does those sledge man with those sledge dogs use in order to PROTECT there paws and if they have problems what they use to make it heel faster.
Thanks
M.
Mickey, I will post for you the same link I posted for Five-O-Joe in another thread. These boots work great, summer or winter. My dog has had a pair for about 4 years. He has had 2 other pairs of boots, but these have by far been the most durable and have provided the most protection. http://www.neopaws.com/shoes.html
On a similar note, what is the best kennel surface for a dogs feet? Some say concrete, although easy to clean, is hard on dogs structure. Pea gravel, while strenghting dogs feet, harbors parisites.
Mickey-Belgium - I found some addresses of european mushing suppy outfitters on SDC. These places will have booties and other stuff for the feet.
Bogeyman Mushing Supplies,Chazot France http://www.traineaux-bogeyman.com
Mushing 6, Germany http://www.mushing6
These might be a little closer to your location.
Thanks guys fo the info,
I guess the only best thing is use booties then, I was thinking of some sort of cream op product to put on the paws.
And what about Tear Wear booties I can get them here in close to here.

I know this is a very old question, but I thought I would still throw out there that my daughter in Massachusetts uses Shaw's Paw Wax when her dogs have to be on salted, sanded country roads in winter.
