Hi-
wondering if there is a limit to how rough i can play with my dog.
sometimes i play tackle football with him and once he came up limping a bit. Anything i should be concerned with like trying not to flip him up in the air or anything??
TIA
I am going to move this to general conversation. Lads, this in no way is a knock on you...welcome aboard. This really is a common sense issue though, not a training or obedience issue.
Teach him to tackle you or someone else, this is a better thing to do, then you tackling him. I kinda put this in the same class as a Alpha Roll, some dogs if you hurt them will bite you a new a**. Playing rough should not be encourage unless you have a purpose behind it. The poor dog came up limping, I hope the dogs fine now.
My boys would play football with my untrained black shepard, he'd run to the goal line drop or hand off the ball to his team mate and they'd kick off again. Kids he was fine with, but anybody 5'10 are taller was in trouble caught in the back yard.
Don't you have any human friends to tackle?
Lads, I'm assuming that your dog is a pet. If that is so, you should NOT teach your dog that is is EVER OK to tackle a human being! Rough housing is not appropriate play.
Someone help me out here!!!!
What kind of dog do you have, by the way? Age, breed?
