Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop a male dog from peeing on his front leg (while marking on a walk)?
I've tried predicting it and correcting with a verbal command ('watch the leg!') and a tug.
Nada. I'm about to ruin this guys peeing  satisfaction by giving a sharper tug with the command when the pee hits the leg but I'm not very hopeful. Any ideas or anectodes?
I don't think correcting for peeing on his front legs is going to help.
Mine does it too. At least he doesn't squat to pee any more, and only hits one leg at a time now. As he's matured and begun to lift his leg higher, it's gotten better. I'm just expecting that we'll continue to see some improvement in aim with time.
In all seriousness, this isn't something you are going to train out of the dog. Some dogs are really bad about it, but all dogs will do it from time to time.
I used to live in a strange arrangement with 2 standard poodles. One was white and had to wear these boot type things up to his elbows everytime you took him out so he didn't end up with yellow front legs and green back legs.
No, I am NOT gonna hold and aim it for him!!!
I guess I will have to go on washing his legs every few days (he doesn't always do it... thank
GOD!) I sure would love to learn away to make these 'dirty' guys mind their 'streams' more...
This particular dog is 8 yrs old and has always
done it (now and then) -although he is impecably house trained and presentable indoors from 2.5 months old.
Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
